My phone is not crappy anymore! Tuesday, Aug 19 2008

I used to have a phone that was very very crappy! It was broken in half and the antenna came apart. I had lot of pictures on it and I had lots of good times with it but now it just couldn’t get a signal anymore. Now I have a new Nokia phone and I am very very happy, I just bought a new cell phone charm(?) for it, and I’m happy happy happy happy happy.

Changed Themes Sunday, Aug 10 2008

I got a fleurs de lys on my business card so I changed my theme to match at least till I run out of business cards. So enjoy!

Create a business plan with 4 questions. Saturday, Aug 9 2008

As you all know, I have been feebly trying to start a maid cafe in the area. But I don’t have any type of business plan. I need somthing to light a fire under my butt. So from my Google Reader I came across Lifehacker’s post about how to make a business plan from four questions. They are pretty simple questions in plain English. I hope they inspire me to get cracking.

Still the Same Old Probelms Saturday, Aug 9 2008

I’m at Otakon right now, sneaking some on-line time before he comes back to the room. Since I got a great review from my job, it’s harder to get on-line to post. This was all and great when I have actual free time because I didn’t have a job. Now I remember why I can’t post like I used to. Anyway I hope to get some new posts up, maybe even a Otakon report . . .

Also Skyler turned two yesterday. I took her to the zoo last Wednesday. We got there late but it was fun to see all the animals that were outside. Now I can have actual conversation with her. I really should put her in school by now . . . Before I know it she would have learned how to read or something. She’s so amazing!

Top Five Places I Like to Shop Cheaply Saturday, Jul 12 2008

Even though I really poor, I like to shop. Getting good bargains are good, too. So here are a few of places I love to shop whether I got money or not.

  • IKEA

Ever needed something for your home or kitchen, like a throw rug or some matching wine glasses or frying pan but didn’t feel you should pay more than $10 for it? While most people usually shop IKEA for furniture, I like to shop some those small things that you would normally pay a lot of money for. You can’t beat $4.99 for 3 energy efficient light bulbs!

  • CD/Game Exchange

  • Why pay full price for a DVD’s when you can go to CD/Game Exchange and get a great discount. Of course you’ll have to wait a few weeks for the price to come down enough. But with DVD’s starting a $4 and CD starting at $2.50, sometimes waiting is good. Did I mention cheap electronics and games? I got my PSP from them for $150 and it had a 2GB memory card in it. I love these guys!

  • Shoppers Food Warehouse

Any place that offer low prices on food, no bonus cards to hassle with and is open 24 hours (in some places) will always have a place in my heart. Shopping at the grocery store at 1 am is pure bliss; no long lines, no crowding, plenty of parking. Now I haven’t tried with a sleeping Skyler but once I can find someone to stay in the car with and I’ll be set.

  • Family Dollar

Wal-mart is too far for me to easily get to it. That why Family Dollar got number 2. I like to get those national brands from here. And they will except your national coupons. While other places like CVS and the like may have a sale on Charmin or Tide every other week, Famliy dollar has always at sale prices.

  • Dollar Tree

“Every thing’s a Dollar.” That is their slogan. And they mean everything, from toys to books; from toiletries to food; from greeting cards to computer accessories (?!): everything is a dollar! A great place to buy food now that they are accepting food stamps. They sometimes sell national brands like Little Debbie and Barilla! The Dollar Tree closest to me has Soy milk and kosher salt!

Now for the honorable mentions:

  • Target
  • Wal-mart
  • National Wholesale Liquidators
  • Payless Shoes
  • Rainbow
  • Murray’s
  • Marshall’s/Filene’s Basement/TJ Maxx
  • Thrift Stores
  • Farmers’ Markets
  • H&M
  • Trader Joe’s
  • Steve and Barry’s

I am Mortal Wednesday, Jul 9 2008

It started with an unsettling premonition after I got hired at Ben and Jerry’s. This past Sunday it came true. Ben and Jerry’s got robbed at gunpoint. The first thing that came to mind was Skyler. Second was my parents. Third was Skyler’s father. We had a big argument about a week ago and we haven’t talked till recently. I wanted to apologize and if anything more than the robbers just taking the money from the register, I probably wouldn’t have the chance. Anyway, my co worker had quit on the spot which was OK because he really wasn’t a good worker anyway. I don’t care how scared you are of “being a snitch,” you don’t leave a lady alone after a robbery! Thankfully the nice exterminator guy stayed. Well after the police came I was overcome with emotion. This is why handguns should be banned in DC! Someone has not only threatened my life, but they invaded my sense of security. Ben and Jerry’s Dupont may have been robbed before but not all the while I was working there! Now I’m paranoid and I don’t like it.

I gave Skyler lots of kisses even though she was asleep from her holiday in Dover with my father and his girlfriend. I told her I loved her when she woke up the next day. Then I left an angry message on her father’s cell phone. After that I felt better.

Rejoice Dupont Circle! Monday, Jun 30 2008

For I am back (though I said I would never come back) at Ben and Jerry’s at Dupont Circle and it seems just in time, too. When I left, the Dupont Circle location was one of the top stores in DC in terms of customer service. Now I just learned that we have more complaints than any store in the area combined! Unacceptable! And we have gotten way dirtier. Cringe. So let’s pray for a great summer and me lots of money! Mama trying to go to Yaoicon!

My Naive Attempt at Environmentalism Monday, Jun 16 2008

With everything going green and oil prices going up every week or so, I had an idea. With elections just around the corner, I thought it would be wise for the next president to adopt an environmental policy that would ease the financial pains of Americans. One way is to recycle everything we use. And I mean EVERYTHING. From that apple core, to that plastic water bottle. From that those grass clippings, to the poop we flush down the toilet everyday.

With more than 300 million people in this country, that is a lot of poop! Instead of taxing our food supply to make bio-fuel, we should be using our sewage to fuel our cars. If we can do with cows, why not humans? Even GM has found out that recycling is not only good for the environment but it’s also good for the bottom line. Now if the government will provide some sort of incentive programs to the average American, we wouldn’t have to rely on the Middle East or any conflicted nation for oil.

We can make plastics out of plants. We have for option for electricity, from solar to geothermal. This is supposed to be the future for Cheese and Rice! The faster we can get through the energy crisis, the faster we can get flying cars and holograms!

Goodbye Tim Sunday, Jun 15 2008

by billypaloozaWhen I saw I didn’t believe it. Tim Russert is dead. I really like the man. Even though Meet the Press is really boring, I would alway listen to him speak. He was my main source of election news. I try to watch to even when a big election wasn’t going on. I feel bad now. I would fall asleep waiting for him to come on. Now he’ll never be on again.

Results Pages Added Friday, Jun 6 2008

I just added the survey results for the GWU Anime Society and the DC Anime Club. I did these surveys in 2007, back when I was still on my starting a new business high. I hope you enjoy them.
